POPULAR VOTE CATEGORY

All paid delegates will have an opportunity to vote for any one of the fabulous competition pieces of their choice.  Use the token provided in your full paid delegate packet to place in the voting boxes that will be next to each competition piece on April 5, from 8:00a.m. - 6:00 p.m.  Make your selection based on what stands out in your mind and excites you the most.

Winners with the most tokens in the voting boxes will be announced at the Final Night Gala & Awards Ceremony, April 7.

DESIGNER OF THE YEAR QUALIFICATIONS

In order to qualify for ”Designer of the Year” you must participate in each of these three categories:

  • Large Balloon Sculpture
  • Centerpiece competition
  • Tablescape competition

In case of a tie Competition Judges will take into consideration the results of the popular vote from the Large Balloon Sculpture, Centerpieces and Tablescape competition pieces.

PRIZES

First, second and third place will be given in the following categories*

  • Large Balloon Sculptures
  • Decorator/Twister Balloon Sculptures
  • Non-Round Balloon Sculptures
  • Centerpiece
  • Tablescape

 Only first place award will be given in the Creative Innovation Competition category.

*In the event that there are not at least three (3) eligible entries in a category, 2nd and 3rd Place prizes will be eliminated.  Only a First Place award will be presented. If there is only (1) one eligible entry that is submitted for competition in a specific category, that category will be eliminated and no awards will be given. If that category affects the Designer of the Year Award, that award will be declared null and void and no winner will be awarded.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

We have 6 spaces available for each of the following competition categories:

  •  Large Balloon Sculptures
  •  Decorator/Twister Balloon Team Sculptures
  •  Non-round Balloon Sculptures

 There are 25 spaces available for Centerpieces and Creative Innovation Competitions.

 Appointed (non-named) judges will make their selection based on specific criteria taking in the following: A point system 1-5 will be followed.

JUDGING CRITERIA

All entries for categories will be judged with the following criteria in mind:

 

  1. Construction and Mechanics:
    1. Are the mechanics hidden?
    2. Is the Design stable?
  2. Presentation:
    1.     Theme carried throughout the design.
    2.     Attention to detail
  3. Design:
    1.      Creativity, uniqueness, elements/techniques not seen before
  4. Design provides a sense of: 
    1.     Uniformity, balance, harmony and color 
  5. Following All General Rules set forth in the General Rules section of the competition requirements. 

We will be happy to send you your scoring sheet for your competition piece no later than 60 days after the close of the convention.
